台風10号が本州中部を横断する。東海道線の富士川鉄橋の橋脚が流出する。

台風10号が愛知県に上陸。死者・行方不明者95名。同時に国鉄の東海道本線富士川橋梁（下り線側）2スパン分が流失。これにより富士-富士川間は、被害を免れた上り線側橋梁を用いての片側交互運転が行われた。
