東京・新宿の伊勢丹デパート前の交差点わきにある警視庁四谷署追分派出所横の歩道で、クリスマスツリーに見せかけた爆弾が爆発し、警官1人が重傷、通行人6人が負傷する。過激派の犯行。

韓国・ソウル市にあるホテルで火災が起き163人死亡。21階建ての高級ホテル・大然閣の２階から出火、全館が猛火に包まれ、このホテルに入った日本人宿泊客10人を含む163人が死亡するという韓国ホテル火災史上最悪の惨事となった。出動した消防車の放水は4階までしか届かず、13時間にわたって燃え続けた。出火原因は不明である。
